[Workspace] Chat Upgrade for Control Freaks

Workspace editions only apply for Google Workspace users (i.e. businesses), and are sent in addition to the regular weekly Productivity Pings

(you can always filter previous editions by application!)

🤔 What happened?

Google finally (and I mean *finally*) added some features for Space Managers in Google Chat.

Space Managers are basically admins for a chat room in Google Chat (we just had to give it a different name 🙄)

🤷🏻 So what?

Under “Space Settings,” Space Managers can now dial up the micro-management by:

  1. Only allowing Space Managers to add or remove members in the chat room
  2. Choosing who can “Modify space details” (like the Space description), “Turn chat history on or off,” and tag everyone using the “@all” command

Needless to say the control freak in me approves of this update 😉.

Reminder: You can set and remove Space Managers under the “Manage Members” tab

⌨️ Keyboard shortcut

  • Typing : in chat followed by a descriptor allows you to quickly add emojis
