[Workspace] Create Custom Icons for Chat!

Workspace editions only apply for Google Workspace users (i.e. businesses), and are sent in addition to the regular weekly Productivity Pings

(you can always filter previous issues by application!)

🤔 What is it?

If you’re tired of using the same old emojis, you can create, upload, and use your own custom emojis in Google Chat!

📸 Instructions

First, feel free to make of copy of my Custom Icon designs on Canva (you just need to sign up and download the PNGs)

Then, start a new conversation in Google Chat > Emoji icon > Create

Then, upload the PNG files 1-by-1, assign an easy-to-remember keyboard shortcut, then save your Custom Emoji!

Custom Emojis you upload will be accessible to all your colleagues by default so when jealous teammates ask you how you did this, tell them to subscribe to Jeff’s productivity newsletter first 😉

Pro tip: If you want to re-create my designs from scratch, search for the “Gradient” element in Canva (you can sign up for free) and copy + paste icons from Flaticon
