Google Sheets: Dropdowns made easy

Quick refresher on Data Validation

If I asked you to create a dropdown menu in Google Sheets right now, how would you go about it?

I’m willing to bet you’d do something like:

  • Select cells > Data > Data Validation > Add Rule

Insert Dropdown in 2 clicks

A much easier way is:

  • Type in the values first > Highlight cells > Right click > Dropdown

Pro tip: Select the bottom-most cell > Select remaining cells > CMD or CTRL + D to apply dropdown to remaining cells
