Google Meet: 3 Surprising Productivity Features

(you can filter previous issues by application!)

Add custom looped background

As you can see I clearly take dancing lessons

You won’t be able to find this animated background by default in Google Meet because I uploaded it myself!

How to upload (and loop) any .mp4 file for your Google Meet background:

  • 3 dots > Apply Visual Effects > Background > Upload > Show Options > All Files > select the .mp4 file

Turn off another person’s video tile

I’ll be honest - I like to stare at my own video feed while in Google Meet.

So, if other people’s faces are distracting you, you can simply:

  • Hover over their tile > 3 dots > Don’t watch

Save time by allowing all attendees

This is super useful if you have a meeting with a lot of external attendees, and you don’t want to “Admit” or “Approve” each one:

Pro tip: If you’re a control freak like me, you can also toggle on “Host must join before anyone else” 😉
