Google Drive: The Feature We’ve been Missing

(you can filter previous issues by application!)

What Google Drive can learn from Windows and Mac

An underrated file organization feature both Windows and Mac users enjoy is the the path bar:

It’s 2023 and somehow Google Drive still needs us to right click > Show File Location

And even then it still isn’t clear where the file or folder is! 🤦🏻

Utilizing the Path Bar in Google Drive

After performing a simple search in Google Drive, scroll to the right and if you hover over “Location,” this will reveal the complete path for the selected file or folder:

But to make this feature more effective, once the file is highlighted, press "a" to access the Quick Actions Toolbar and select 'Move to'

Here, not only can you see exactly where the file resides, but you can also use the bottom path bar to quickly navigate to the correct folder!

⌨️ Keyboard shortcut

  • Highlight a file or folder and press “a” to bring up quick actions

I’m always looking for ways to improve so give me anonymous feedback here 📝
