So I have nothing against budgeting apps like Mint (I used it myself for ~4 years) but they do have several limitations like:

  1. They're not available in all countries / regions
  2. If you're security conscious you might not want your financial information accessed by a third-party
  3. It's too easy to "ignore" your spending when everything is calculated automatically
