Google Calendar: Cancel useless meetings!

(you can filter previous editions by application!)

🕵🏻 Audit your recurring meetings

  • 71% of professionals waste time every week due to unnecessary or cancelled meetings
  • The biggest culprit is recurring meetings because you forget to question whether these meetings are necessary even after a period of time
  • Year end is the perfect time to adopt my colleague Laura Mae Martin’s tip on auditing your recurring meetings!

📸 What do I do?

  1. Make a copy of this Recurring Meeting Audit spreadsheet
  2. In the “Clean” tab, input Columns B through E (i.e. understand your Current State) based on your current weekly schedule
  3. Determine new frequency and/or duration for each recurring meeting and input decision within Column G
  4. Check in with meeting organizers and participants and suggest the new meeting frequency and/or duration!
💡
Pro tip: If you feel uncomfortable telling colleagues you’d like to cut down on the number of meetings and/or duration, tell them this is a “best practice” you heard about and wanted to try out. This takes the pressure off you and I can be that a**hole!

I’m always looking for ways to improve so give me anonymous feedback here 📝
