Workspace editions only apply for Google Workspace users (i.e. businesses), and are sent in addition to the regular weekly Productivity Pings
(you can always filter previous issues by application!)
The use case for Variable Chips is a bit complicated so here’s a gif showing you how I use it:
As you can see, Variable Chips act as “dynamic placeholders” that can be updated with a single click!
They are most useful in instances where the structure of the document stays more or less the same. For example:
...to name but a few.
The easiest way to insert a variable chip is to type “@variable” in Google Docs:
You can then <Insert a New Variable> or pick an existing one:
You can manage all your Variable Chips in once place by navigating to the Menu bar > Tools > Variables
Of course, the Variable Chips themselves are useless without an actual use case (e.g. an invoice) so the next time you find yourself re-using an email or document, create a template with Variable Chips instead!
