If you're anything like me, you HATE writing performance reviews. It is SUCH a waste of time. You’re basically reconstructing the past X months of accomplishments from memory and you have to “spin” it in a way that makes it seem like you’re the savior of the company.

Side-note: When I left Google earlier this year I made a copy of all my past performance reviews (something you’re supposed to do) and reading through them was cringe as f***.

The painfully tedious process

Here's what usually happens when it's time to write my self-review:

1. Open a blank document and stare at it.
2. Try to remember what I even did in Q1.
3. Dig through old emails looking for project updates.
4. Check my calendar for meetings that might jog my memory.
5. Scroll through Drive hoping to find that one doc with the numbers I need.

Three hours later, you have a mediocre draft that undersells your actual contributions.

Step 3: Review the draft and make edits. Gemini pulls specifics directly from your actual correspondence, so you're starting with real data instead of fuzzy memories.
