How to fart less and poop better

Hey friends - As many of you know, I’m a bit of a health freak so when Dr. Eric Berg dropped this video on how to improve gut health, I wanted to see if there’s something I still didn’t know.

A bit of context

  • Sleep and nutrition are the biggest factors when it comes to being healthy (followed by exercise), and nutrition is (obviously) tied to digestion
  • I’m lactose intolerant and I’ve always had a weak digestive system, so I’m extremely careful about what I eat
  • I bloat really easily and I’ve found that fasting for 36 hours on a weekly basis (2 years and going strong) really helps

tl;dr

I strongly recommend watching the full video if you’re health conscious but here are the main takeaways:

  1. Probiotics & Fermented foods (e.g. Kimchi) - Eat these at night (right before you go to bed) since your digestive system won’t be as active
  2. L-Glutamine supplements - Great for inflamed gut and leaky gut
  3. Lower stress levels - Yes this sounds like silly to say but we all underestimate how much stress affects our digestion. I recommend picking up meditation (even 5 minutes a day does wonders) and/or journaling

If you're interested in fasting (I highly highly recommend some variation of this), check out this post on my first fasting experience.
