Long story short, this week’s been pretty taxing mentally.
I had to argue with colleagues at work, I’m worried my next Youtube video isn’t going to perform well, and I have a tough conversation coming up.
Luckily for me, I have a great way to deal with self-doubt and anxiety: you guys.
Ever since I uploaded my first Youtube video on June 3rd 2020, I’ve kept a Google Photos album where I keep screenshots of all the positive comments I receive:
Whenever I feel a bit down, I’d flip through the screenshots and smile at some of the positive and hilarious comments followers have left (I’ll share 3 of my favorite at the very end of this post).
Even before I started Youtube, I actually saved screenshots of positive comments from my peers and managers at work, my professors from college, and of course, my parents.
It took me a while to build this habit (I wouldn’t receive positive comments all that frequently lol) but I highly, highly recommend you to start as early as possible!
This could be “formal” positive feedback from performance reviews at work, or just a casual “thank you” message from Google Chat / Slack.
All too often we forget about all the awesome things we’re doing and focus only on the negatives.
A screenshot is a powerful visual reminder to help you get through a rough day, week, or month.
And of course, don’t forget to show appreciation the next time an opportunity presents itself, you never know how much that might mean to them 😊!
