# Google Slides: Avoid Accidental Edits

**Hey friends** \- The Comments feature is obviously a great way to collaborate in Google Slides but sometimes we’d like to flip through the entire presentation **without** the distracting text on the side.

## Enter “View-only” Mode

- Menu bar > View > Mode > Viewing

Not only does “Viewing mode” automatically hide all comments, but it also prevents you (yes you) from making accidental edits!

💡

****Pro tip:** Choosing “Commenting mode” prevents you from making edits, but still allows you to read and add comments.

## Bonus tip

- If you replace the last part of your Google Slides URL that starts with “edit” with “preview” the link brings the viewer into a slideshow directly
