# [Enterprise] Master Client Personalization with Variable Chips

## Tailoring messages for 250 clients

Back when I was in the sales team, I managed **250 advertisers** (yes two HUNDRED and fifty clients), and part of my job was to convince them to adopt new product features after they launch.

Copy and pasting the same message (and changing the client name) was definitely an option, but I wanted to add a bit of customization for a better customer experience.

Enter Variable Chips in Google Docs:

## Use Cases

Generally speaking, I find myself using Variable Chips in situations where I already rely on an existing template document (think job offer letters, termination agreements, onboarding materials, contracts, engagement letters).

Variable Chips can be used to insert client names, case numbers, and dates throughout these documents. This not only ensures consistency but also significantly reduces the time spent on manual updates.

## Instructions

1. Create a separate section above your template to “house” all the variable chips for easy reference
2. You can either type “@variable” and select the variable chip option, or simply type \[variable\] followed by <TAB>
3. **🌟 Pro tip:** Double click on a completed Variable Chip followed by <DELETE> to delete all instances of that chip
